Internal Description
The Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase & Co provides legal services and advice to the Firm globally. Legal is responsible for, among other things:
managing actual and potential litigation and enforcement matters, including internal reviews and investigations related to such matters
advising on products and services, including contract negotiation and documentation
advising on offering and marketing documents and new business initiatives
managing dispute resolution
interpreting existing laws, rules and regulations, and advising on changes thereto
advising on advocacy in connection with contemplated and proposed laws, rules and regulations, and
providing legal advice to the Board of Directors, the business and functions. Legal selects, engages and manages outside counsel for the Firm on all matters in which outside counsel is engaged.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities for the Assistant General Counsel, Global Financial Crimes Legal (GFC Legal), include the following:
Supporting GFC Legal’s provision of legal advice and transactional support to the business, compliance, and other legal or control groups on issues related to anti-money laundering, Know-Your-Customer requirements, anti-corruption, and economic sanctions laws and regulations;
Assisting internal JPMC counsel as well as outside counsel, as necessary, in legal and investigative matters related to anti-money laundering, anti-corruption, and economic sanctions laws and regulations;
Advising with respect to select special projects (long-term and short-term) arising from the administration of the global AML program;
Assisting senior GFC Legal attorneys with support of the Firm’s investigative units, subpoena processing and escalation teams, Global Security, and SAR filing units; and
Analyzing AML and FCPA regulatory and legislative developments, including advice regarding implementation.
Supporting select special projects (long-term and short-term) arising from the administration of the global KYC / AML, Sanctions and ABC programs, including providing legal advice on the development and periodic review of JPMorgan policies and procedures; and
Attend internal meetings and governance/oversight committees to provide legal advice on relevant AML, Sanctions and ABC matters
Performing other tasks and matters that may be required of the Legal department from time to time.
Job Requirements: Qualifications
J.D. required.
An understanding of banking and brokerage investment products, services, and transactions strongly preferred
Familiarity with AML, BSA, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC regulations
Familiarity with the regulatory framework for a large banking organization offering products and services consistent with JPMC strongly preferred
Strong project management and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
5+ years of legal practicing experience with compliance related investigations, litigation and/or financial services regulatory matters in a major law firm and/or large multi-national corporation
Self-starter with an ability to foster and maintain solid client relationships and collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders as a trusted legal advisor in a multi-functional, multi-jurisdictional environment;
Ability to multi-task and effectively manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment;
Confidence and experience translating complex legal concepts into practical solutions;
Creative solution and problem solving skills
All candidates for roles in the Legal department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment
Attorney must be licensed to practice law and a member in good standing in in the state/jurisdiction in which the position is based or otherwise in compliance with the in-house counsel registration rules of that state/jurisdiction
