Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Litigation Discovery Attorney! This position will manage and oversee the collection of corporate documents and information to be disclosed outside the company to help ensure completeness, accuracy, and uniformity of corporate discovery responses in litigation matters. This position will also work in conjunction with Carnival's attorneys in all stages of claims and litigation as well as in connection with the operational needs of the company.  This position will also serve as the primary testifying witness in corporate depositions regarding discovery matters.

Essential Functions:

  • Organize, manage and oversee the collection of corporate documents and discovery responses in litigation matters to ensure accuracy and uniformity as operationally required to avoid sanctions and adverse judgments from the court in litigation matters. This would include the oversight of prior incident searches by issue which have been compiled from various databases utilized by Carnival as well as the maintenance of a properly organized repository of discovery documents which contains a historical log of previous discovery by ship and issue.
  • Serve as the primary corporate representative for depositions and trials as needed. Review pleadings, motions, Rule 26 disclosures and discovery responses in conjunction with Carnival's attorneys in litigation matters.
  • Maintain proficiency in, and current understanding of Carnival's HESS-MS system including all updates and revisions.
  • Be available on an urgent as needed basis during off hours to handle any and all emergencies relating to depositions, written discovery, litigation, or trial.  Assist with other duties or tasks assigned by senior management which furthers the goals and objectives of the Legal Department.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • J.D. Degree.
  • Florida Bar Member.
  • 2-6yrs professional experience required.
  • Previous Federal Court litigation experience with preference for maritime experience
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office programs. Typing and legal research.
  • Will need to become proficient in the Carnival ecosystem of databases and programs.
