Job Description: There is an immediate opening for an Assistant State Attorney position in our Office’s Criminal Intake Division. Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in criminal law. Membership in the Florida Bar is required. This position involves the investigation and filing of misdemeanor and felony warrant cases. The cases range from the simple to the complex and include cases where arrest warrants are generally sought because a subject cannot be located or is in state or federal custody. The applicant selected for this position will work with local police agencies and local and state governmental agencies reviewing, analyzing and supervising the investigation and filing of misdemeanor and felony cases. Applicants should also have a good knowledge of criminal law and procedure, good interviewing skills, and decision-making ability. In addition to police investigations, the selected applicant will also be required to take calls, meet with police, members of governmental agencies, the judiciary, civil and criminal litigants and civilians at large to advise and assist them as appropriate.

Preference will be given to applicants who have a background in research and writing and who have excellent communication skills. Attention to detail, the ability to coordinate and mediate, and good people skills are all necessary for this position. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
