Compensation: The salary range for a well-qualified Business Contract Lawyer is $85,000 – $100,000 annually. Job Description: The Business Contract Lawyer will have responsibilities related to the review, analysis, design, and development of ClimeCo’s legal items such as NDAs, term sheets, and contracts. This role will also review partner, client, and prospective acquiree legal documentation. ClimeCo has an existing group of external legal firms that it utilizes, and this role would be expected to work with these resources as necessary and to manage these externally-assigned tasks.
The Business Contract Lawyer will interface with diverse clients, partners, investors, and board members across multiple industry sectors to efficiently educate and coach the organization on risk management. This role will specifically deal with evaluating and reviewing legal documents, offering advice, and counsel on business opportunities and partnerships. Additionally, the role will perform generalist legal functions as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Reviewing and evaluating legal documentation, including NDAs, contracts, and term sheets
Conducting legal research and data analysis
As necessary, researching and proposing legal leaning risk mitigation tactics
Coaching and educating constituents on best practices and up-to-date regulations and laws
Producing client-facing legal documents
Providing recommendations to senior leadership for new and innovative solutions and processes
Candidates should possess excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills, analytical skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and be highly organized with fine attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills and a strong understanding and application of contract law.
Job Requirements: A Juris Doctorate (JD)
Must have an active bar license in any US jurisdiction, preference for New York, Delaware, or Pennsylvania
Two or more years of professional experience in legal document and contracting review
Knowledge of contracting and procurement laws, principles, regulations, strategies, practices, and procedures
Ability to provide a detailed and thorough review of documents, including solicitations, contracts, NDAs, term sheets, and compliance documentation
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with comfort in delivering complex legalities to lay audiences
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and balancing shifting priorities
Critical thinking with extensive legal research and data analysis experience
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members
Willing to travel on occasion (approximately 5-10%, depending on prevailing safety conditions) and once quarterly for team meetings
